BBQ Sauce

food general keto

This sauce goes well on any BBQ style meat, like ribs, tenderloin, and brisket. It also works great for a dipping sauce for fries and meatballs!

My family loves this and it gets made on the regular as we BBQ year round.

Time to Make

Even though this recipe uses real brown sugar, the sugar contents for a 1 tbsp serving is reasonable and really is all you need on a serving of pulled pork or something similar.

While I have not tried this myself, I am looking forward to tring this out and replacing 1/2 of the vinegar with bourbon. I think this would be a tasty variant! You might even consider adding a bit (1/8 tsp) of cayenne pepper for an added kick.

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan and simmer over low heat for 5 min.
  2. Let cool, either in the pan itself or transfer to a heat safe container. I like to transfer it to a 4 cup measuring bowl and the put it in the fridge. This allows for a easy pouring spout for transferring to my condiment bottle once it has cooled. I use a spare ketchup bottle.

Final Thoughts

I tried a bunch of things before arriving at this recipe. I tried using worcestershire sauce and dry mustard. I also tried using honey and molasses for sweetener. This was my least favorite.

After all of the experiments, this is what everyone thought had the best overall flavor and versalitity. The white vinegar gave it a great punch and the simplicity of the ingredients made this the clear winner!
